I think your work would work for whatever you want. Having a background in Art History and as a Art Director i can tell you, and you know that already, that there is no rules.
Most advices are freakin non sense and so counter productive, however not all are. If you want to put stuff in boxes, well, your work might be called post modernism, heavy contrast, you get enough for your money so to speak. i think you are extremely talented.
Things get so confusing when you're in the industry, i hated it. The constant unbalance in between art and work and what people want and what's not. Excuse my french but, F^#&#% that!
nevertheless, the ony thing we cannot escape is creating! i am so watching you from now on to see where you'll go dude.
Cheers
S
ps: keep it up, your work is amazing.

i know what you mean. i dont have limits but i have goals. a art rep said my stuff wouldnt work for children's books because.... its not right. so now i try to make something that will work for childrens books.
I thought a great deal about what you are saying, but I don't know if I agree. let me rephrase this, something i have issues with is that, I have the tendency to do allegories, with every piece I do. I force myself to avoid it nowadays. because, even though it might have the grownup feeling, people can rarely relate to it. What that means, i do not know.
A way to challenge yourself and try to get where you want to go, or at least towards that direction is to put some rigid rules that are not what you do instinctively, and see where it brings you. Example: For almost a year, I do not allow myself to use anything else than Black and White. I do not allow myself to draw a single line. All my vectors are shapes, there is no lines....
Cheers dude!!!!! You are quite an inspiration as well!

As well as Charlie in the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride and many more (his name is Tim Burton and most of his films have Johnny Depp in them - Edward Scissor Hands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factor etc. - and normally Helena Bonham-Carter (who's Tim's wife), she was Mrs. Lovitt.) Casablanca? wow. i have no memory. i go to a restaurant and play a trivia game on a team. i havent contributed a correct answer in weeks but my friends remember all sorts of actors, musicians,countries...even the last movie i've seen... the only detail i can remember is that Johnny Depp was the barber and the director also did Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare before Christmas, Batman and a movie with a headless horseman.
a wiped memory is what i got. my sponge is all full and wont take no more.
